The Luddites were English textile workers who protested against the use of new machinery in the early 19th century. They raised concerns that machines would lower their wages, and push out their traditional, highly-skilled labour.

Their determination to protect traditional labor practices still inspires people today, sparking debates about the impact of technology on society.
